Bantam Cochins for the win. I had a black hen, and a Barred Rock Bantam Cochin rooster. He shared the rule over the flock of about 30 with an equally mellow Araucana rooster...and we did not realize until we picked him up one day that he also sported 3-inch spurs under his fluffy leg feathers. No wonder he walked bow-legged, and the Araucana didn't mess with him (though he, too, was honestly chill. Both were Good Rooster Boys and diligently found the best bugs and worms for The Girls, and didn't bother them too much).
The folks who run Mississippi Mud pottery shop in Alton, IL have a shop chicken (well, she goes home with them every night) called Butters, who is decent with people as a whole (even children) and especially fond of adult males. I am not at all surprised by Tater Tot's infatuation with Kevin.
